Sarah Lloyd is a public advisor advocating for co-production and public involvement in research. She is also the founder of Fourth Wall Folkestone.
Sarah is an artist researcher and social activist specialising in public engagement. She is also interested in mental health due to her own lived experience. She seeks to reimagine the art world as more inclusive and accessible, where an artists’ role is to inspire and facilitate creative thinking. Sarah is passionate about learning through making, and how creative practice can be understood as a form of research. She believes in crossing the boundaries between academia and creative practice using cross-disciplinary ways of working.
During this Open Studio, Sarah will be using Fourth Wall Folkestone to create work for the new Pears Maudsley Centre. Collaborating with children and young people, this commission sees the creation a series of 3D artworks integrated into the architecture of the new Centre.
This has involved facilitating creative research workshops across multiple locations including the Science Museum. The project will culminate with the creation of 3D artworks (informed by the workshops) within 5 display units across 3 floors of the hospital.
