COMING SOON…
SICK OF IT: THE EGG-XHIBITION
27 MAR – 12 APR

We are delighted to announce our first pop up!

After moving out of our space on the Old High Street we’re kicking this new journey off by combining our well loved Sick Of It festival with our fundraising Egg-Xhibition.

We have invited a group of artists to create a trail of ceramic egg based artworks in windows from the top of the Old High Street and along Tontine Street, leading to an exhibition at The Stables Gallery. Every artwork will encompass our core interests: Women’s Health, Mental Health and Challenging Diet Culture with the hopes of raising money and awareness for the work we do here at Fourth Wall Folkestone.

“FWF is not afraid to tackle issues that are difficult, emotional and rarely shared. The quality of the events and artwork is always extremely good. It deals with real life subjects in a way that doesn’t happen elsewhere.”

BIG NEWS!
A MESSAGE FROM FWF’S FOUNDING DIRECTOR SARAH LLOYD:

Fourth Wall Folkestone began as an experimental project exploring how I could share my art practice within research to the public by opening a gallery and open studio right on the high street. It soon evolved into a registered CIC and I was collaborating with other organisations in the voluntary sector who had exciting socially engaged projects to share with the community. Before I knew it, Fourth Wall had reached its capacity in its first premises and we were moving into a bigger space to accommodate the rate in which it was growing.

Long story short, the current physical space has become its own amazing beast that has outgrown my capacity. My own work as an artist researcher has been put on the back burner whilst I have been nurturing the space over the past four years. Alongside this, the current climate has meant that it has become increasingly difficult to access funding, so I have made the very difficult decision to close Fourth Wall as a physical space as of January 2026.

Whilst this phase of the project may be coming to a close, I am really excited to say that Fourth Wall Folkestone will remain as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company and will go nomadic.

This is not a goodbye, this is a ‘watch this space’. I have been doing a lot of reflection and blue sky dreaming as to what Fourth Wall Folkestone could go on to look like in the future (think podcasts and pop-ups etc). I’m looking forward to sharing the next part of this journey with you all.

Thank you for all your continued support. Community is so important and I am so grateful to be part of this one with you all.

“FWF invites and encourages all members of the community to take up space. There is this unique energy that FWF emulates, one that encourages people to show up as they are, being true to themselves and take what they need from the space. The work that goes on within FWF is life saving and life changing.”
