“The greatest sadness in my life has been losing our daughter, an event every parent dreads. One night, our beloved Bunny passed away in her sleep, forever changing our lives.
Bunny had always been a part of my work through a cute little bunny character. After our daughter’s death, this character took on a profound new significance, becoming much more than it had ever been before.
Sometimes when you look at people, you can’t see the sadness that we all carry with us. I like to scratch underneath the surface and find that sadness and make it part of the image. It’s a part of life, and it’s what makes us human, so why hide it?
The thing is, sad things are going to happen, but when they do, what do you do? It’s how you get through that and deal with it that is the important thing. I’ve been through that and art saved me.
I hope this helps somebody going through grief or loss.”
